NHS Registration and Cancellation Policy

At Albany Dental Centre, we strive to provide high-quality care while maintaining a smooth-running practice. To accommodate the high demand for NHS dental treatment and manage our schedule efficiently, we have established the following policies regarding registration, appointment cancellations, and missed appointments.

NHS Dental Registration Policy

Due to the high volume of patients seeking NHS dental care, we must de-register patients who have not attended the practice for two years or more. Additionally, patients who fail to attend their appointments twice or cancel at short notice twice within a year will also be de-registered, in accordance with our cancellation policy.

To help you stay on track with your appointments, we send reminders via text messages and emails. Please ensure that your contact details are up to date so that we can reach you. If our communications bounce back due to incorrect details, we cannot guarantee reminders will reach you.

To maintain your NHS registration at our practice, we ask that you:

  • Attend all scheduled appointments or cancel them with at least 48 hours’ notice.

  • Book your next dental examination before leaving the practice, regardless of whether it’s in three, six, nine, or twelve months. Our reception team is here to help you schedule your next visit and will send reminders closer to the date.

  • Keep your contact details current, especially your email address and mobile phone number.

If you are de-registered, you will no longer be eligible to receive NHS treatment at our practice.

Appointment Cancellation & Failed to Attend Policy

To ensure the smooth running of our practice, patients are requested to provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling, especially if the appointment is 30 minutes or longer. Failure to give sufficient notice or failure to attend may result in a charge for the cost of the missed appointment. In certain cases, future appointments may no longer be offered at the practice.

For private appointments, the full appointment fee will be charged for missed or short-notice cancellations. We may also request pre-payment for future appointments, with the full amount retained if the appointment is missed or canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice.
